Default Things I Would Like To See In GW

In no particular order:

- I would very much like to see a 'druid' class.

- I would also like the ability to quest/change my primary class after ascension, even if it meant having to re-do the ascension.

- I would like to see a LFG tool a la Everquest I.

- I would like to see quests to expand the number of available skills (not elites) that you can have on the bar.

- I would like to see refined AI for all henchmen, so you can choose things like 'Healing Monk' vs. 'Smiting Monk' or other focused AI available within the other classes of henchmen.

- I would like to see the ability to upload your own guild emblem through the Emblemer (using the same 'browse' and 'upload' technology that you see for attaching images here)

- I would like to see Guild Missions designed for guilds of X members or more a la the team missions at the various towns across the game world.

- I would like to see full-text searching on player names so you can find your friends even if you don't know the full name (i.e., a friend who always uses 'purple' in his name, but I have no way to look for him to add to the friend list because it doesn't seem to search on partial names).

- I would like to see more incentive/reward for PvP players crossing to PvE, so they can feel like the pursuit of their skills and upgrades isn't a 'waste of time'.

- I would like to see more incentive/reward for PvE players to try PvP such as temporary experience bonuses for the first X encounters.... something to draw in fresh blood.

- I would like to see some changes on the percentage of failure associated with purple and gold expert salvages. If you are a class that can actually use the item you've unlocked, you should have a bonus to salvage it.

These are just off the top of my head. I'm sure I'll come up with more if I think on it for any length of time.

I'd like a space ship with super-hyperspeed and big lasers. But first I need to learn how to build one. You may want to expand on how the "druid" class would work.

Could be a good or bad thing, as people would flock to whatever is the "best" class at the time. It would be cool to change my primary to monk when needed.

Suggested over and over, and hopefully will be added soon.

Never going to happen, the whole combat system is based on players only having 8 skills each. Even adding one bar would completely change the game balance.

Would be nice, the problem is every npc has a different programmed AI. So it takes alot of resources to create them for the game. I'd rather wait on that and get something more important in, like an auction system.

God, please, no. Im guessing you never played Counter-strike or Half-life at all? Picture 500 people running around old ascalon with boobies on there cape.

That would be fun.

That should be included in finding a party. Player search, etc.

Huh? I don't quite get this one. I think it should be the other way around. More reward for PvE players crossing into PvP.

Well.. never mind my previous comment then. There it is.

I think it's ok as is, items are already pretty wide-spread as-is. Just my opinion though.

Some good ideas!

Don't encourage them! Druid has been suggested at least a dozen times with detailed and improbable skills. Believe it or not the devs have an interest in RPGs too, they are no doubt aware of the various classes out there. Unless you have an idea that isn't in an RPG yet, or a neat way to separate the class' skills from other classes (making them conditional on terrain for example, exploiting the presence of water/fire/plants nearby ...) then it probably isn't going to inspire them in any way. New mechanics are important to keep things fresh - like the introduction of "phasing" creatures in MtG. I get tired of people suggesting the same RPG classes over and over. And yes, we know about shapeshifting.

PvP players would almost invariably view this as just adding to the grind. What incentives are you thinking?

Sure, but there are plenty of different types of druids in fantasy/RPG. And not all of them shapeshift into bears.

Tsk tsk, friend. Such bitter words.

The druid is as valid a template as any other, and has grown to be a favorite among many, myself included.

The druid tends to get one of three interpretations in MMOs today:

- Weather Workers (storms, lightening, etc)
- Nature Workers (animal and plant influence or abilities based upon them)
- Priest/Shaman (mystical or religious healers)

All of this is well and good, but I'd like to see a druid that is based upon the historical druids of the old picts/keltoi culture. They were keepers of lore and culture, often worked as respected diplomats between tribes, and yes, tended toward mystical interpretations of nature to teach their people lessons of life, philosophy, and mysticism.

In this game, I'd think druids would be not unlike monks in that their abilities would be based upon their philosophy and not necessarily control of the elements around them. (Note -- I do not necessarily mean healers here.)

Reading nature (similar to the ranger's 'read the wind') but more in keeping with the advisory role that one would have found had one been able to exist in those historical times.

One could create any number of beneficial or detrimental abilities with attribution to nature, philosophy, or mysticism. Though it is worth pointing out that, also like the monk, a druid's philosophy tends more to the benevolent than the malign.

A druid's blessing (enchantment) or condemnation (hex), a censure (direct damage), a forgiveness (anti-hex), atonement (anti-enchantment), insight (increase energy), and perhaps even some manner of team enhancement... of course these are just thoughts off the cuff.

On the other hand, you could just as well go with the more traditional templates in the MMO genre and bring up anything from DoT to Regen and the host of Direct Damage abilities that relate to weather or nature.... but that's all so over-done.

Most who talk about druids tend to think of them as diversified rather than specialists. I have no real issue with that, it has worked elsewhere. But I think I'd rather see a druid that is specialized along mystical lines or perhaps even philosophical ones rather than the 'same old same old'.

Oh, and before I forget, I couldn't possibly care less about shapeshifting unless it has reason and context within the game's lore. I just don't see how that would or could here. Perhaps as an offshoot of the Melandru lore... but that would really be pushing it... unless of course you mean to give druids ent form... heh. Hardly glamour, there.

This is a quote from early thread dont know how to highlight it...sry. but anyways.

Problem with this is too many weirdos would make their guild capes with porn on em. This would lose many people playing. I probably would quit.
